ADVANCED RESTORATIVE and ADHESIVE / AESTHETIC DENTISTRY
(The 2-day course satisfies the prerequisite)
Participants in the FACE seven week program (one five day session every two and one half months) are armed with the knowledge and
new and exciting armamentaria (manufactured exclusively for FACE graduates) that allow the dentist to deliver beautiful restorations that
do not require occlusal adjustment. This holds true not only for the single tooth restoration, but even the most complex full mouth restorative or prosthetic procedures. The placement of restorations that are in perfect occlusion, without destroying the beautiful esthetics created by the dental technician, make doing dentistry a truly rewarding and exciting experience. The FACE program is a "hands on" experience that instructs the clinician in how to deliver the highest quality dentistry in the world today. As part of the training, a great deal of time is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment planning of complex cases which results in making what at first appears very difficult or impossible, relatively simple and easy to achieve. The FACE program is invaluable and a must for any dentist who is dedicated to become the best he can be, and deliver to his or her patients the most comfortable, esthetic, long lasting, and functional dentistry possible.
It is unfortunate that many quality oriented dentists have invested a great of time and money in other continuing education programs that promise similar results, only to be frustrated when realizing that what they have been taught does not work clinically on a consistent basis.
The FACE program has proven to be of special value to many clinicians who have shared that frustration.
The FACE faculty takes special pride in demonstrating on actual patients, the clinical application of all the techniques covered in the program. Then through one on one instruction, the knowledge and skill
necessary to accomplish outstanding results can be mastered by the participant. There is no greater marketing tool in dentistry than truly satisfied patients who are excited about the treatment they have received and the improvement it has made in their lives.
The popularity and patient demand for "cosmetic dentistry" has led many dentists to put the most emphasis on learning how to create the most appealing smile through the use of whitening, adhesive dentistry, veneers, porcelain crowns etc. These procedures are unfortunately often accomplished at the cost of proper function, which can result in problems with porcelain fractures, periodontal breakdown, occlusal instability, tooth mobility, and TMJ disturbances. The FACE
trained dentist should be able to deliver not only the most esthetic result possible, but one that is also healthy, comfortable, long lasting, and functionally ideal.
The highest quality dentistry can not be accomplished without a thorough understanding of the entire gnatho-stomatic system. One must understand the nature of the stresses placed on the joints, muscles, periodontal tissues, the dentition and the neuromuscular system. This knowledge is essential in order to most effectively practice any phase of dentistry. Unfortunately, dental graduates are not armed with the knowledge that would enable them to diagnose and treat problems that are biomechanical or occlusal in nature. Occlusion is perhaps the most ignored and misinterpreted subject in dentistry. And yet, it is without doubt, one of the most important factors in the success or failure of our treatment modalities. There seems to be an aura of mystery and misinformation disseminated about this subject in modern dental academia. The paradox is that the theory and principles that govern the neuromuscular and occlusal systems can be easily understood when logically presented to the student. When the principles of a healthy occlusion are violated, the neuromuscular mechanism can become a very formidable enemy to the dentist. It can cause clenching, premature wear of the dentition, periodontal pathology, bone loss, flaring of the anterior teeth, widening of periodontal membrane spaces, tooth mobility, orthodontic instability, abfractions, TMJ disorders, headaches and other cranio-facial pain, tooth pain and temperature sensitivity. Many post restoration teeth that have been condemned to endodontic treatment could have been successfully treated by an accurate alteration of the occlusal surface of those restorations.
When any type of dental treatment is done according to the dictates of an optimal occlusion, the neuro-musclar system becomes the clinicians ally rather than his enemy. This results in an occlusion that does not require neuromuscular adaptation or "avoidance patterns" in order to function properly. Delivering this level of dentistry is perhaps the most rewarding experience a clinician can have in his or her dental career. Dental treatment becomes fun to do since the results
are always predictable, comfortable, long lasting, and stable. The frustration that many dentists experience in their practices is usually caused when their treatment does not satisfy either they or their patient's expectations. One of the goals of the FACE program is to eliminate that frustration, and to make the practice of dentistry a truly fulfilling experience that is both financially and emotionally rewarding.
Attendance in any of the two day courses, "ADJUSTMENT FREE DENTISTRY WITH EMPHASIS ON COSMETIC DENTISTRY AND OCCLUSION " presented by Dr.'s Thomas Basta and Jeff Brucia, is a prerequisite for enrollment in the FACE seven week program.
